And to the Republic, for which it stands

We the People

The people...are the only sure preservation of our liberty

America was built on courage, on imagination, and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand

Voting is the first duty of democracy

Life in freedom is not easy, and democracy is not perfect

Democracy is never a final achievement. It is a call to an untiring effort.

One and indivisible

Democracy cannot be static

The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil constitution, are worth defending against all hazards

Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness

A republic, if you can keep it

Government of, by, and for the people

In the truest sense, freedom cannot be bestowed; it must be achieved

Here, the people rule

About

Dallas Politics is a non-partisan website designed to inform voters in Dallas County (in addition to areas like Flower Mound, Lewisville, and Grapevine) about down-ballot candidates. These candidates’ platforms and ideas do not receive nearly enough media attention, leaving voters no choice but to cast their vote solely based on a candidate’s party. This website addresses this by summarizing candidates’ campaign websites into 4 major platform issues.

Where do I start?

Click on the button below (or at the top of your screen) to see who is on your ballot! The Ballot Lookup tool is made by Ballotpedia, a reputable, non-partisan website.

Please be aware the tool will require your address because your election district depends on where you are registered to vote!

  • Who is on my ballot?
You can find the names of the candidates on your ballot here: Ballot Lookup. You can then search these names on Dallas Politics to learn about the candidates’ platforms. Keep in mind, Dallas Politics only provides information for the US Senate, US House, Texas Senate, and Texas House in Dallas and some surrounding areas.
  • Who are down ballot candidates?
Down ballot candidates are typically the candidates running for positions in the state Senate or House of Representatives (as opposed to the US Senate/House). State representatives and senators write legislation for Texas and play a major role in making sure your voice is heard in Austin, so learning about their platforms is vital to making an educated decision on election day.
  • How can I contact Dallas Politics?
You can email us at dallaspolitics@gmail.com with any questions you may have. While suggestions and feedback are appreciated, please refrain from spam and political commentary. Thank you!
  • How can I register to vote?
If you are 18 and aren’t already registered to vote, you can do so here: vote.gov. If you aren’t sure if you’re registered to vote, you can check here: nass.org.
  • How do I know the information presented is non-partisan?
All the information on Dallas Politics is based directly on candidates’ campaign websites (which are linked to their names on candidate cards), interviews or questionnaires, and government records of bills the candidate authored/sponsored.
